Finger Pulley Injury Rehabilitation
How To Treat a Finger Pulley Tear or Rupture TreatmentFinger Pulley Tear treatment is vital to ensure the full recovery. These injuries can be devastating for rock climbers.
The wrist, hand and fingers are made up of complex joints that work together to manipulate, grip and grasp. Injuries here can make day-to-day tasks hard and significantly reduce quality of life, and our team are trained to accurately diagnose and treat them.

Physiotherapists and hand therapists treat injuries to the wrist, hand and fingers. We're knowledgeable about the anatomy of the region: the complex movements of the bones and joints, and the role of muscles and ligaments in providing support to the joints.
Anytime Physio has a special interest in wrist, hand and finger injuries resulting from rock climbing. Our team at Gasworks Plaza in Newstead are trained to accurately diagnose and treat conditions of the wrist and hand, from common sprains and overuse injuries through to climbing-specific pulley and flexor tendon injuries.
The best treatment depends on the type of injury and the reason for the pain. Your physiotherapist will thoroughly assess you to rule out red flags and will refer you for scans (e.g. x-ray and MRI) if needed. Once you're cleared, your physio will perform a series of tests to assess the bones, joints, cartilage, muscles, tendons and ligaments of the wrist, hand and fingers.
Treatment is tailored to the diagnosis. For example, if you've strained your flexor tendon while rock climbing, treatment will likely include soft tissue massage for swelling, gentle exercises to slide and glide the flexor tendon, and ice to manage swelling. Your physio might tape your finger and hand to limit range of motion, and for injuries where more permanent movement restriction is needed, we provide splints and braces to assist recovery.
